My son's name is Brandon and he attends Hicks Canyon Elementary School in Tustin Unified. I started sending Brandon to Patt in the beginning of his 3rd grade in September of last year in hopes to improve his reading comprehension and writing along with starting a good study habits and completing his homework on time. Before Patt, my son attended a different tutoring session but it was a struggle each time he had to go.
Right away, I was very pleased to find out that Brandon really enjoyed his tutoring sessions with Patt because she has a point system that rewards kids with gifts for good performance during their sessions.
When Brandon was in second grade, his Reading Counts was not even near 100 points and this year, he has close to 200 points! Also last year, his teacher always emphasized that he needed to improve on his writing but things have turned around 180 degrees. This year, Brandon received the Author's Tea Award from his school, which only ten kids are chosen for their writing from the entire school! It was the biggest accomplishment he made this year by far!
I credit Patt for Brandon's successes because of her patience to focus on his weaknesses and sticking with the game plan throughout the year. The outcome is more than what I had imagined because not only did it increase his confidence but also created a solid study habits that are critical in Brandon coming years.
Update email from Brandon's dad, he is sending me more referrals. " I hope they have success from your tutoring as Brandon. By the way, Brandon has been getting all A's and he got into GATE thanks to you!
